This nursery rhyme has appeared in many different forms accross time. It was first published in 1726 in “A Learned Dissertation on Dumpling” with the name “Nauty Pauty Jack-a-Dandy”.
A similar version to the current one appeared in 1850 in “Harry’s Ladder to Learning”.
