Like many other Christmas songs, originally “Let it snow!” was not related to Christmas, being composed during a heat wave in California by Sammy Cahn and Jule Styne in 1945.

It was the winter theme and its lyrics about waiting for the snow that made it become associated with the holidays, being one of the most played Christmas songs.

“Let it snow!” became a radio hit in 1945 when was it recorded by Vaughn Monroe and since then it has been taken over and adapted by numerous notable artists, including Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin.

Let it Snow! Lyrics

Oh the weather outside is frightful
But the fire is so delightful
And since we’ve no place to go
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

It doesn’t show signs of stopping
And I’ve bought some corn for popping
The lights are turned way down low
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

When we finally kiss goodnight
How I’ll hate going out in the storm!
But if you’ll really hold me tight
All the way home I’ll be warm

The fire is slowly dying
And, my dear, we’re still goodbying
But as long as you love me so
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

“Frosty the Snowman” is a popular kids song written in 1950 by Walter Rollins and Steve Nelson. It was first recorded by “The Singing Cowboy” Gene Autry.

The song proved to be very popular and charted instantly in 1950 and later when Jimmy Durante covered it in the same year.

The song was adapted into a book and a short cartoon was also made about Frosty. While the song never mentions Christmas specifically, it proved to be a timeless song associated with the winter holidays.

“Frosty the Snowman” Lyrics

Frosty the snowman
Was a jolly happy soul
With a corncob pipe
And a button nose and
Two eyes made out of coal

Frosty the snowman
Is a fairy tale they say
He was made of snow
But the children know
How he came to life one day

There must have been some magic
In that old silk hat they found
For when they placed it on his head
He began to dance around

Frosty the snowman
Was alive as he could be
And the children say
He could laugh and play
Just the same as you and me

Frosty the snowman
Knew the sun was hot that day
So he said, “Let’s run
And we’ll have some fun
Now before I melt away”

Down to the village
With a broomstick in his hand
Running here and there
All around the square
Saying “Catch me if you can”

He led them down the streets of town
Right to the traffic cop
And he only paused a moment when
He heard him holler “Stop!”

Frosty the snowman
Had to hurry on his way
But he waved goodbye saying,
“Don’t you cry
I’ll be back again some day”
Thumpity, thump, thump
Thumpity, thump, thump
Look at Frosty go

Thumpity, thump, thump
Thumpity, thump, thump
Over the hills of snow

“The North Wind Doth Blow” Lyrics

The North wind doth blow and we shall have snow,
And what will poor robin do then, poor thing?
He’ll sit in a barn and keep himself warm
and hide his head under his wing, poor thing.

“Rain Rain Go Away” is an English nursery rhyme that probably dates back to the 17th century.

It is a very popular rhyme as it is very easy to remember by children of any age.

The first version of the song was mentioned by writer and historian James Howell and it also contained only two verses:

Raine raine goe to Spain:
Faire weather come againe

The song was also covered or mentioned by many other popular artists like Foo Fighters or Nine Inch Nails, and it was also the theme of the Australian children’s TV show “Round me Twist”.

“Rain Rain Go Away” Lyrics

Today the most common lyrics of the nursery rhyme are:

Rain, rain, go away
Come again another day

In the 19th century, there is evidence that another verse was added to the nursery rhyme as well:

Little Arthur wants to play.
